Sungai Lembing Trip

The night before the trip,
our graduating Immediate Past President
(such a posh name for ex-president -_-'')
decided to have a house party at her place.

She is normally this unglam quite a lady =P
Tze Yuen even made a video with all her moments *haha*
But due to her Facebook privacy settings I can't embed it here =(

It was a really fun night with food, booze, games, secrets and very little sleep *hehe*

****************************************

The next day was TRIP DAY!!
^_^
Due to the previous night,
the bus trip was filled with blurry eyes
and sleepy heads
instead of the typical rowdy bus behavior.

After god knows how long, we reached our first destination!

Sadly, the sun doesn't set on this side of the Earth...

I haven't been back to Kuantan for such a long time,
Teluk Cempedak beach has changed so much since then.

This though sure haven't change XD

After much camwhore,
we left for dinner and head for Sungai Lembing.

One of the movie we watched on the bus was Wrong Turn.
Not a very wise choice considering the following that happened during the trip.
1. As you could see in the picture above, Viran turned into a ghost.
2. We had to pass by a really creepy cemetery on the way in and out of our resort.
3. We had to go into the jungle to get to the Rainbow Waterfall.
4. There were deserted houses along the riverbank on the way into the jungle.
5. There was a fork road in the jungle and we took the left turn.
6. One of the 4WD had a flat tyre on the way out of the jungle.
Really bad timing to watch such a thriller =S

On a more cheery note,
this was the room Charlene, Chi Ching, Sandra and I shared.
It had such a nice color ^_^

Since we arrived at the resort rather late,
nothing was really planned for the night.
We just dilly-dallied around,
played cards and Taboo,
and some of them played mahjong (I want to learn!!)

****************************************

Morning call was 4.30am the next morning +_+
We had breakfast at the only hawker center there
and took the 4WD to Rainbow Waterfall.

We stopped halfway to enjoy the sunrise
but it was too cloudy that day =(

It was all walking/hiking from here on.
We had a number of these river crossings
and I almost lost my slippers to the current >_<

Wrong turn nightmare O_o

Check out the waterfall!!!
It's so high up that the water comes down like rain at the bottom.

The view was absolutely breathtaking.

The view was so so so pretty up here
I didn't want to go down.
I want to live up there!! >_<
Kenny, Brian and I were like the last one to go down
while the rest were all having their Maggi Cup
made by the waterfall water.

As mentioned earlier,
one of the 4WD had a flat tyre.
Quoting Tze Yuen's Facebook comment
"haha..all city kids...never see how flat tyre is changed before =p"

After lunch, we visited Charas Cave.

It was pretty dark inside
so we had to carry torchlights with us.
At one point, I shone my torchlight at this bunch of bats above
and they STARED at me =S

This was the Reclining Buddha in the cave.
At midday, sunshine will strike his face
through this hole at the top of the cave.

Other than the Reclining Buddha,
there were some other Buddhas and religious statues as well.
The place was also said to be inhibited by some monkey-like creatures the size of humans.
A Caucasian guy apparently saw it the day before our visit,
and our tour guide wasn't really keen on staying in the cave for too long.

A lot of us were exhausted when we got back to the resort.
For me it was obviously the lack of sleep from previous nights,
so I just showered and slept till dinner time XD

We had a BBQ dinner.

There were burgers, chicken wings, stingrays, lamb, sausages and seafood balls.
There was also this special type of otak-otak which was white in color,
and the famous roasted pork ^_^
And not to forget the vege XD corns, sweet potatoes and salad.

It was a really nice dinner,
except for those who were fretting over exam results
because they registered for SMS delivery -_-''

After dinner, this uncle who was an ex-teacher
came to talk to us about his golden days.
It was really funny to see him being nagged by his wife to go home.
*LOL*

In the end, it was another late night
that ended with a karaoke session.
*hehe*

****************************************

Woke up at 4.30am AGAIN +_+
Worst still, we had to hike up Panorama Hill in the dark =3

All that for this miserable sunrise
because it was yet again too cloudy =(

The view of the mist was quite nice though.

Doesn't it look like some Chinese painting?? =P

We lingered till the sun was way up
and headed down for breakfast.

We ate at this store in the hawker that was famous for their tofu.
Their tofu is supposedly made from mountain spring water.
It was actually pretty nice,
but I can't remember the name of the store
except that 阿贤 (Ah Xian) from Taste with Jason has been there before.

The Sungai Lembing Hanging Bridge was our next destination.
It was kind of scary to walk on it when it was swaying
and some of the boards were like loose and unstable =S
But Melissa and Pei Yee just ran across the bridge like it was nothing,
and an uncle scolded us because he say the bridge might collapse,
which just made me feel SO SAFE -_-''

There's a small village on the other side,
and also this handmade noodle shop.

I think this is a really traditional way of making noodles
whereby they kind of hump this stick to flatten the noodle XD

The noodle is then put into a machine to make it noodle-like
and boiled for a while.

Once it's done, it gets tossed around in oil and voila!

The Sungai Lembing Museum was the last place we visited.
There was not much there except mining stuff.
Since we were all tired from walking,
we didn't bother going to the old mining site.

Last group picture at the Lembing Riverview Resort where we stayed.
It was a really nice place,
and the people there were really nice and hospitable too.
^_^

This 'scandal-full' trip (don't ask!) was definitely the highlight of my semester break =D
Got to know a lot of the Leo Club members better, and it was just really really very fun!

Most pictures are courtesy of these following people...
Brian, Viran, Janice, June, and Tze Yuen

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

First things first, I'm not a Twilight movie fan, but since I've watched the first two movies, I've just got to watch the third one -_-'' Another reason being that Jacob is supposedly HOTTER than ever in the movie, so there you go, my main reason for watching >_< Both Jeanette and I had the same secret desire to watch the movie so naturally we ended up going together =P

In my opinion, Eclipse is by far the best out of the three. Maybe I was expecting a really bad show since it's predecessors were so superbly bad, and Eclipse just happened to exceed that superbly bad expectation. There were good action scenes, really funny scenes, and just really gorgeous scenes of Jacob XD However, being part of Twilight, the movie just had to have really corny scenes that spoiled everything >_<

This HAS GOT TO BE the most memorable part of the whole movie *LOL*

Family Gathering at Grand Imperial Restaurant

A few of my aunts came over to KL during the holidays, even my aunt from Singapore came over to celebrate my nephew Jayden's 1st birthday.

It's usually difficult to get so many of them together at one time in the same place (mum has 7 sisters and 3 brothers!), so one of my cousin decided to organized dinner at the Grand Imperial Restaurant at The USJ 19 City Mall (a.k.a Digital Mall). I only found out about the dinner last minute when I arrived in KL from the Sungai Lembing trip. I was actually really exhausted from the trip, but I went along anyway to not be a party-pooper >_< Since I arrived early, I ended up wondering around the deserted mall for like half an hour like a lost child before the others arrived *LOL*

We had a not-so-private room (because they kept leaving the door open -_-'') with two tables and karaoke =D All the aunties were surprisingly sporting that day by singing a few newer songs instead of their usual oldies XD

This was the first dish.
Sweet and sour pork rib with some dried sour plum pieces on top.

They served the crispy chicken skin with some meat and potato chips =S
The chicken salad's taste wasn't strong enough.
And the crispy-noodle-bowl wasn't crispy enough.

I don't know what fish it was.
But I'm assuming it was some river fish because it had that dirt taste.
*bluek*

This was by far my favorite out of all the dishes.
It was the scales from the fish XD
They deep fried it with some chili and stuff.
It was like eating junk food more than anything *hehe*

The rest of the food was really normal and not worth mentioning so I didn't bother taking pictures. Their tofu with spinach or whatever didn't resemble the fish pieces like they were suppose to, so no pictures of that either >_< Overall, the food was only so so. It wasn't worth the price we had to pay.

On a side note...

I was rated as one of the ugliest out of my cousins who were there (some not in the photo) by one of my nephew. As if it couldn't get any worse, mum was rated the prettiest out of the aunts who were there that day. Talk about getting the recessive gene man -_-'' FML!

Community Service Center for the Deaf Visitation

About a week after the end of finals we put what we learned during the sign language course to good use. We visited the Community Service Center for the Deaf. It is basically a school for deaf-mute children. We played some station games with them and got them Domino's for lunch =P

We got a mini tour of the place when we arrived, and some kids "sang" for us.

They signed "Are You Sleeping?" and "Negaraku".
Through their hand movements, we heard music =)

I was in charged of teaching the kids how to make origami dinosaur. It was really hard to do with the communication barrier. In the end I gave up teaching the harder original version dinosaur and substituted it with an easier version. I now fully understand how people with disability feel when they can't get their message across. I am very thankful that I have been born with all five senses working normally.

This is the harder version of the dinosaur that one of the kids managed to make.

All the kids loved the pizzas with pineapple toppings.
We are not so different after all ^_^

We went to Dave's Bistro Bar & Grill at 1 Utama for lunch after the visit.
Their pasta was dee-lish!
But everyone was starving so I doubt anyone took pictures of the food *LOL*

All pictures courtesy of Alyssa who organized the whole thing.
KUDOS!

Che Go Sucks

Went to Sunway Pyramid for lunch with a couple of friends today. Since Jaime and I were the early arrivers, we decided on Korean. Sadly, there were only Che Go and Ko Hyang to choose from, it wasn't much of a choice. Since we were already at the Orange Atrium and lazy to walk all the way to the other side, we went ahead with Che Go.

I have to say, the food wasn't great. The marination for the BBQ beef was too sweet. The kimchi didn't taste nice, which is one of the reason that caused their kimchi ji-gae (kimchi soup) to not taste like kimchi ji-gae. There were A LOT of Shiitake mushrooms in it and not enough/lacking a lot of other stuff. They also used the tofu with skin, instead of those soft and smooth ones like you'd usually find in typical Korean restaurant. The other side dishes were all not up to par. I was quite disappointed and unsatisfied overall. We shall all go Dao Rae the next time! *hint hint wink wink*

There are no nice pictures of the food because I didn't take any, and not like it was worth taking in the first place anyway >_< However, there is a picture of something Jaime and I "cooked".

Doesn't it look like some expensive fine dining cuisine? XD

I know I should be glad that I've actually tried this restaurant before so that I know it sucks and will never ever visit again, but I just like to be a terrorist. According to my Consumer Behavior textbook, a terrorist is a dissatisfied customer who spread negative opinions =P At least, you won't have to go through the same bad experience after reading this right? =)

Mooooovies

大日子 Woohoo!
This was supposed to be a comedy but it made me cry
I've forgotten why
It wasn't as funny as expected
It just wasn't great

葉問 2 - Ip Man 2
The fighting scenes were good
A happy ending
Some say patriotic, I say slightly racist
All in all, it was pretty good

Shutter Island
I thought it was a horror movie...it wasn't...
They say it messes with your head...it did...a bit...
To live as a monster, or to die as a good man?
Either way, an AWESOME movie

Romeo + Juliet
Sense of hearing, sense of sight
The contrast was too much
I do not like it so
And think it too weird

孔子 - Confucius
It took a lot to understand the dialog
Though I can't say I understand the whole lot
Maybe I should re-watch with English subtitles
It is rather worth the watch
